The idea of an affirmation is to change the way we think over time. All of behaviors are learned
behaviors – we learned them over time through repetition. We can use the power of suggestion to change those learned behaviors, to actually create new neuropathways in the brain to make positive changes and eliminate negative thoughts and habits. This is the concept that is used in hypnotherapy to
help people to improve their lives by overcoming negative patterns and habits. Using positive
affirmations is actually a form of self-hypnosis. Repeat your affirmation 10 times a day, every day, and
allow it to become your reality. You can use your affirmation as a mantra during your yoga or meditation
practice, or repeat it to yourself at another time during your day or when you get in to bed at night.
Listed below are examples of positive affirmations; if there is one that resonates with you, make it your
own. If not, you can make up your own affirmation – let it be positive and meaningful to you. The
important thing is to find out what your negative thought patterns are and then to rewrite them in the
form of a positive statement. Your affirmation is all about “you” and should be personalized as such,
using words like “I”, “me” or “my” . And your affirmation should be in the present tense … “I am”, “I
have”, “I can”….as opposed to “I will”


I am peaceful, centered, radiant and relaxed.


I experience ease and well-being in mind, body and spirit


I live in the present moment.


All of my relationships are happy and healthy.


I always make choices that are supportive of my health and wellbeing.


I nourish my mind and my body with healthy food and drink.


I am the perfect weight for me.

I know that I deserve love, and I accept it now.


I turn every experience into an opportunity.


I allow my true nature to come forth and reveal its wisdom to me.
